Gulf Incon-Metabo floodlit Division I cricket tournament at Qatar
QAPCO shocked Kemco Select to emerge champions in the Gulf Incon-Metabo floodlit Division I cricket tournament.
Electing to bat, Qapco scored 137 for seven in 15 overs. Yasir made an unbeaten 29 (1x6,4x4) and Pravin Shreyan contributed 26 (2x4). Shakeel was undefeated on 16 (1x6). Qapco were also helped along in their victory cause by the over-confident Kemco Select bowlers who gave away 17 wides and three no balls. Gulraiz, Atiq, Wasi and Nabeel took a wicket each. In reply, Kemco Select batsmen played reckless shots and threw their wickets.
Needing 18 runs from the last over, Gulraiz scored two runs in the first ball and Raheed was run out in the second. Thereafter, Gulraiz hit a six and a boundary of the next two deliveries but the fifth ball failed to produce any runs, leaving just four runs to be scored from the last delivery. But Gulraiz could only manage a ground shot and the batsmen scampered for two runs at which the wickets were broken. But the batsman who took a third run was run out attempting the fourth, leaving the scores tied at 137 each. But as per the tournament rules because Kemco Select had lost eight wickets against seven wickets of QAPCO, the latter were deservingly declared the winners. While Shakeel took two wickets, Shabbaz, Imtias and Yasir took a wicket each. Kemco Select's Gulraiz was named the man of the final. It may be mentioned here that Qapco have been promoted from second division and were playing in the first division for the first time.
