Automobile dealers, Teyseer Motors, yesterday announced the launch of the world's largest selling brand of shock absorbers, Monroe, in Qatar.

At the launching ceremony, attended by senior officials representing Monroe in the region, Medhat Greiss, general manager of Teyseer Motors, said the company took pride in aligning with some of the automobile industry's leading names that shared its passion for excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction.

The official said Tenneco Inc supplied more than 200 vehicle platforms worldwide with its original equipment ride and emission control products. Monroe International Company produces around 335,000 shock absorbers daily in its facilities in Europe, North and South Americas and Asia.

Greiss said Teyseer Motors's partnership with Monroe would provide Qatar with a wide range of high quality shock absorbers that would ensure safety of both the car and driver. He said shock absorbers would be available at all outlets of Teyseer Service Centre. Ashraf Shafiq, Monroe's Country Manager (Middle East), said the company enjoyed more than 25% share in the world market. One out of every four shock absorbers sold worldwide comes out from Monroe, said Shafiq.

While explaining the features of Monroe, Shafiq said Monroe earned revenues of over $4.44bn in 2005-06. The official said as per the 2006 automobile industry figures, 77% of the original shock absorber equipment and 23% of the after-market sales came from Monroe. Worldwide, two regions Europe, South America and India, and the North America shared 46% market share each. The sales from the Middle East are accounted with the European region, said Shafiq. The Asia Pacific and Australia accounted for the remaining business.

The Monroe official said the company has 80 manufacturing facilities worldwide, which together employed more than 19,000 workers. Almost every top car manufacturer in the world is our client, he said.

Terming shock absorber as the one of the most vital safety components of a vehicle, Shafiq said it is in fact one of the most neglected equipments as well. Samy Mahta, Monroe's sales and marketing director, Middle East, Africa and Turkey, said the company was honoured to be a business partner of Teyseer Motors. We expect Monroe shock absorbers to gain popularity in the country as it is a high-quality product providing safety and security to both the car and the driver, he said.
